17.00 Chairman Introduction: Martin Mannion, Head of Trustee Services, John Lewis Partnership Pensions Trust

Martin is the Head of Trustee Services at the John Lewis Partnership. Prior to that, he was the Director of Finance and Risk for the GSK UK Pension Schemes and Secretary to the Trustee for the GSK Common Investment Fund. Martin is a member of the NAPF Defined Benefit Council, having previously served as Chair of the NAPF Investment Council and a Director of the NAPF. He has been actively involved in a number of industry initiatives including the revision of IAS19 and the ICAEW AAF01/06 Committee. Martin is a UK Chartered Accountant with a background in both in-house pensions management and audit and consultancy


17.35 Andrew Clare, Associate Dean, Cass Business School

Andrew is the Professor of Asset Management at Cass Business School and the Associate Dean responsible for Cass's MSc programme, which is the largest in Europe. He was a Senior Research Manager in the Monetary Analysis wing of the Bank of England which supported the work of the Monetary Policy Committee. While at the Bank Andrew was responsible for equity market and derivatives research. Andrew also spent three years working as the Financial Economist for Legal and General Investment Management (LGIM), where he was responsible for the group s investment process and where he began the development of LGIM s initial Liability Driven Investment offering. He is the co-author of  The Trustee Guide to Investment . He has also published extensively in both academic and practitioner journals on a wide range of economic and financial market issues. In a survey published in 2007, Andrew was ranked as the world's ninth most prolific finance author of the past fifty years. Andrew serves on the investment committee of the GEC Marconi pension plan, which oversees the investments and investment strategy of this GBP 4 bn scheme, and is a Trustee and Chairman of the Investment Committee of the GBP 2.5bn Magnox Electric Group Pension scheme.




18.00 Toby Goodworth, Managing Director, Head of Diversifying Strategies & Risk, bfinance

Toby is Head of Risk & Diversifying Strategies at bfinance, having managed risk in hedge fund portfolios since 2003. Previously Toby was Head of Risk Management at Key Asset Management, one of Europe's oldest fund of hedge funds, where he designed and ran the firm's bespoke risk models. Prior to that, he was a Risk Analyst focusing on quantitative global equity strategies. Toby holds a Ph.D in Physics from University College London and a First Class honours degree in Physics, also from UCL.



18.30 Phil Redding, UK Head of Business Development, Cardano

Phil is responsible for Business Development in the UK and Ireland for Cardano. Prior to Cardano, Phil was Head of Business Development EMEA at Aviva Investors. With 30 years in the industry Phil's background, in addition to the investment roles at Aviva Investors and previously Credit Suisse, includes key pension roles, particularly in the DC world, at Zurich, CIS and Scottish Mutual, and as a pensions consultant at Hogg Robinson Benefit Consultants.




19.00 James Wood-Collins, CEO, Record Currency Management

James joined Record in August 2008, and was appointed Chief Executive Officer in October 2010.   He joined Record from JPMorgan Cazenove, where he had been a Managing Director advising financial institutions on M&A, IPOs and related corporate finance transactions, including the December 2007 IPO of Record plc.   James joined JPMorgan in 1994, and worked in both the London and New York-based corporate finance teams.   He has a BA in Chemistry from Trinity College, Oxford.   James chairs Records Executive Committee and is a member of its Investment Committee.
